Orange Bowl Packages & Tickets January 1st - January 4th, 2011 Sun Life Stadium - Miami, Florida ORANGE BOWL | PACKAGES | ORANGE BOWL TICKETS | PACKAGE UPGRADES  The Orange Bowl began in 1932 in the midst of the great depression as The Palm Festival. George E. Hussey, athletic director of the time, and Sarnie Seiler, Miami’s Recreation Director, envisioned the Miami Orange Bowl as an opportunity to generate tourism and revitalize the hardship city. In 1934 the Orange Bowl was officially announced as an annual Bowl. Since then the Orange Bowl has grown to stand as one of college football's "Big Four" bowls and has been host to top ranked teams year after year. In 1994 The Orange Bowl saw number two ranked Florida State Seminoles beat number one ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers in a down-to-the-wire 18-16 victory. It was only the eleventh time in college football history that the #1 and #2 teams were matched. Today the Orange Bowl continues to help determine the national college football champions as part of the Bowl Championship Series.
